About
Jaymie Maley is an early career artist based on Darkinjung land, on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
She explores her relationship with the natural world (especially the local Angophora Costata trees) through an interdisciplinary approach that includes painting, drawing, sculpture and installations.
She completed her Diploma in Visual Arts at Hunter TAFE NSW in 2023, receiving the Highly Commended for painting in the Carol Duvall Award 2023. Currently she is at The National Art School in the BFA program.
She was selected as a mentee in the competitive mentorship program run through Newcastle Art Space 2023-2024, completing her 12-month mentorship with Dr Annemarie Murland.
Jaymie has exhibited at MAC Yapang (Lake Macquarie Regional Gallery) and in Newcastle at The Lock Up, Creator Incubator, Straitjacket, Owens Collective and Newcastle Art Space Gallery.
Maley is a repeat finalist in the Hunter Emerging Art Prize (painting and sculpture) and was a finalist in the National Emerging Art Prize 2024.
In tandem with her practice, Jaymie has worked as a creative arts mentor supporting adults with disabilities in art making and arts access.
